Telecom Services in Ranchi

Telecommunication Network is a collection of nodes and links which carries audio, visual and data communications. It also includes internet.

Information Technology has changed life today. From cities to villages, people have become well connected through mobiles, internet and land lines. They can avail free e-mail services and are well informed.  

There is a Software Technology Park at Ranchi. Government has adopted e-governance as future model to provide transparent governance.

 

Improvement has been seen in telecommunication services and facilities in Ranchi. The Ranchi Internet node has been upgraded to ''A'' category. A separate Telecommunication Circle in Jharkhand takes care of this sector. There are 337 telephone exchanges in Jharkhand.

Recently, Jharkhand Governor Shri Syed Ahmed distributed one lakh e-certificates in Namkum Block of Ranchi district. This shows networking and reach of e-governance facilities in the district. 292 Panchayats in 18 blocks of Ranchi district have been connected through Pragya Kendras, under the e-district scheme. Through Pragya Kendra, even people living in remote villages of Ranchi district can apply online for birth and death certificates, residential and caste certificates etc. 

The number of telecom operators had increased in India. In order to ensure adherence to license conditions and taking care of telecom network security issues, government created Vigilance Telecom Monitoring Cell (VTM) in 2004 in different states including Jharkhand (in 2007). With effect from August 2008, the name of VTM cells has been changed to Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM) cell. This cell performs vigilance functions, co-ordinates with network operators, looks into grievances of subscribers and takes care of other security functions.
