Sports teaches team spirit and makes us more agile and energetic.Today, when technology keeps us preoccupied in the comforts of our homes, it is all the more important that we choose a sport and devote a couple of hours for our physical and mental well being.
The capital city of Ranchi has a number of modern well equipped stadiums for professional players. It also houses many Sports Coaching Centres for amateur and upcoming players. These centres provide talented players the advantage of scientific coaching and also educate them to keep fit. Talented players are also sponsored through these centres. Sports Training Centres would give sports persons the added benefit of residential and day boarding.They would receive quality sports training too.
The Government has planned to start a Sports University on PPP (Private Public Partnership) basis at the Mega Sports Complex at Ranchi. The proposed University will have courses from Bachelor's and Master's level to research in diverse sports fields. Research subjects would include sports management, sports media, sports tourism, sports communication, health management and coaching etc.
Tata Steel has plans to set up a Hockey Academy in Ranchi. The football and archery academies run at Jamshedpur have already honed the skills of hundreds of players.
The state sports department has planned to set up Centre of Excellence at the Mega Sports Complex which will cater to various disciplines in Sports.
Coaching Centres in Ranchi:
This academy was inaugurated by ace tennis player Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik. It is situated near JSCA International Cricket Stadium.
Ranchi District Cricket Association:
RDCA launched the Cricket Academy at Kanke's Birsa Agriculture University Campus. The purpose is to train young talented players.
Yuwa is a Community Sports Centre on the outskirts of Ranchi city. A number of local girls are being trained in football here.
