Ranchi Science Center

Ranchi is a progressive city established as capital of Jharkhand. It has witnessed drastic progress since declaration as capital city. The city has been established with number of knowledge institutions and children parks for thorough enjoyment for young ones. In that one of the prominent places to visit here is Ranchi Science Center. This center is located at Morahabadi, Chiroundhi Village in Ranchi.


It is also termed as Regional Science Center by locals. It is spread over the area of 13 acres comprised of double storey building in space of 4200 square meters. The premises of Science Center have been developed with the support of National Council of Science Museum which is a section of Ministry of Culture in Indian Government. The approximate cost incurred for commencing this knowledge city including all aspects is twelve and half crore.

The construction of building started in 2006 and with the hard workmanship of four years, it got established in 2010. It has been inaugurated by then Chief Minister, Shri Arjun Munda on the day of 29th November. It is the first and only Regional Science center established in the region of Ranchi. The park is classified into three thematic galleries that showcase different segments of science and technology.


The main motto of establishing Ranchi Science Center is to develop interest in new generation about science. In studies, science is revealed to be hard and boring subject for students. Sometimes, children find theories too tediouds to read and know about them. Hence here every science aspect has been presented in visualized form and people can actually experience the working of science. With small experiments, they reveal many complicated concepts of science which are hard to grasp in theories.

To decorate the premises, they have installed water bodies and picnic corners. Its herbal corner and pre historic dinosaur life exhibition is the highlighting attractions of Ranchi Science Center. Visitors can also watch statues of legendary scientists, CV Raman, Homi Bhabha, S Ramaujan, and others. The premises of Science Center have been divided into galleries, i.e. Fun Science, How Things Work, and Wealth of Jharkhand.

Fun Science at Ranchi Science Center

Here science has been presented on funny theme to attract children and curious persons. Fun science offers technical science experiments that need visitor participation to illustrate the logic and knowledge of this subject. There are 60 different types of science models and exhibits that allure people coming here. Fun Convex or concave mirrors, magic hollow pipe, mirror room, illusions, scientific musical instrument, and hollow pipe magic are the key attractions at Fun Science Section.

How Things Work at Ranchi Science Center

Here visitors get knowledge of science logic behind the day to day work of life. 3D interactive games, science models, and interactive panels have been introduced to understand science behind the minor or major things work.

Wealth of Jharkhand at Ranchi Science Center

This section displays the wealth possessed by Jharkhand state in form of natural minerals and vegetation. In the area of 2000 sq ft, visitors can see fiber glass models depicting typical forest regions of Jharkhand.
