Did you know that Ranchi district was actually known as Lohardaga a few years back? The name of this district was changed in 1899 from Lohardaga to Ranchi. It is named so after an Oraon village nearby by the name ‘Archi’.
Ranchi is the capital city of Jharkhand. It is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India. The district is underlined by the silvery waters of Subarnarekha river which flows by the side of this city.
This is the most populous district in Jharkhand state. Known as the ‘City of waterfalls’, NH-33 and NH-23 pass through Ranchi.
